Who I Travel With

I travel. Travelers like myself will understand how addictive travelling is.
Overseas or locally, it does not really matter. As long as I get to go to new places, marvel on new adventures, feel the excitement of a whole new experience, it is travelling in my life dictionary.

I did not know how I got into this mess. Well, i guess I sort of know. It started off really small, rather insignificant to a lot others, but It kept me going further and further.
The Pangkor trip that I took with my two bffs started it all. From Pangkor, we expanded to a larger group trip to KK the next year. Then we took our annual trip overseas- to Jakarta and Bandung. From there, I became almost unstoppable.

That wasn't the only group I travel with. I have a few others - and I sure don't mind trying with different travel buddies !

However, I had fun with all of them. Sure, the style of travelling differs. There may be misunderstandings, clashed of opinions, disagreements, and lots and lots of grumblings, but we always pull through, somehow survived the whole trip and have fun along the way.

From what I have observed, all of groups I have traveled with are not really that much different. There will always be these kinds of people:-

1. The Planner

The planner knows it all. From the best places to dine, to the cheapest places to shop. Normally the planner will plan the whole itinerary, where to go at which time she thinks is best - she because I have not come across a male planner. Normally The Planner is very good at researching. How can I survive my trips without you planners? :)

2. The Treasurer

Face it ! When you go on a trip, money is almost the biggest constraint. For those who have more than enough, that will not cause any hassle. But for most youngsters, money is always JUST enough. So, there will be at least ONE person in that group who are very strict with spending, always looking out for best bargains and ensure that all expenditures do not go overboard the budget. Since I am not a wealthy person - YET, I honestly appreciate good affordable deals and sticking-to-the-budget scheme. At least I would have extras to spend on shopping! Yeayyy ! Being stringent, (or, almost) with expenditures does not mean that you follow on the budget really tight until you missed out the fun. NO. There are times when we would get one thing cheaper than expected and the other way round. So, it is more like drawing a graph where you are not necessarily connecting all dots but making sure the pattern is there and keeping errors below 5%.

3. The Model

Simply because she will always, always have her photos taken at every single places ! And mind you, these are not 2 shots we are talking about. The thing about these Models are... their pictures always come out so nice ! Very Instagram worthy.

4. The Photographer

We will normally take turns. But if we travel with a few boys... then I bet you can figure out who are our official photographers. :P

5. The Bodyguard(s)

We will have our bodyguards when there are men joining the trip. At certain times, you do feel a whole lot safer with them around. Of course, they double up as weight lifters too. See guys, you get to work out for free with us. Way to go for six packs at the end of the trip.

6. The All-GOer

I call it All-GOer. Simply because she/he will oblige to almost anything. Doesn't complain much during long walks, always a YES when someone suggests for a midnight walk. But that doesn't mean All-GOers do not have an opinion of their own. They do. But they'll voice it out in a very diplomatic way. Wise ones these are.

7. The Shopaholic

Shopaholics will shop till they drop. Or until their hands are completely full. Or until their money has depleted...or they'll just put in on hold until they can find the nearest ATM/money changer. Since they shop a lot, you can actually get useful tips from these Shopaholics. They'll definitely possess the knowledge in terms of price comparison between Malaysia and the foreign land.

8. The Trusted One

The Trusted One is someone you can confide to. Something like an older brother/sister. You can trust his/her judgment. You can definitely count on The Trusted One for honest opinion when you need one. Super useful when you are selecting something to buy.

9. The Pending

Aha. There will at least be one in every single group. A bit late to catch up on jokes or plans. But they are truly funny you see.

10. The Joker

You need em jokers. Especially when your feet are sore and you start to lose temper, you need someone to crack jokes and laugh to relive the mood. Trust me... There will ALWAYS be something to laugh about when you are surround yourself with these Jokers.

That is just my personal observation. I always find one that resembles characteristics above in every different travel groups I had.

You see, that's what makes the trip more enjoyable and colorful. Each individual is different, with different reasons as to why they want to travel. For me, I can go to the same place twice, thrice even... but it will never be the same experience. The trips I go are made more memorable spending them with my loved ones. It doesn't matter whether you are The Planner, or The Pending or The Joker, or a mixture of them all.. YOU have made my trips more worthwhile. I am not going to name any names. I supposed ALL of you should know who you are :) Am looking forward to more trips with all of you. Last but noe least... I LOVE ALL OF YOU !

p/s: Can you believe it? I am typing this entry while listening to "Sakitnya Tuh Di Sini" ?!
